Silent Star

Back

Come Christmas, come again and fill our hearts with joy
Let us hear once more the story of that baby boy,
Born so very long ago within a stable bare-
An ox, an ass and Mother mild to tend him there.
No bells rang out, no trumpets blew to greet that special morn
When Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world was born.

Just a star, a silent star shining in the sky,
Spreading across the world, proclaimed our Lord most high.
Shepherds wondered at the sign, and wise men were perplexed
So they followed that bright star to see where it would come to rest.
As they drew nigh, they saw it shone above a stable bare-
As ox and ass and a Mother with her baby sheltered there.
Soon, within that humble place they heard the Angels sing
And they knelt in adoration to greet their new born King.

No royal throne, no kingly crown, no banners all unfurled,
Just a baby, sweetly sleeping--the Saviour of the world.
Come Christmas, come again.., let us praise with all our might
Jesus, the King of Glory, bringer of eternal light.
